She also enjoys doing large charcoal portraits of friends. Other favourite subjects for painting and photography are the gardens and rivers that run through the great cities of the world.

Her photographs aim to capture a moment in time and the essence of a place, in the spirit perhaps, of artist-photographers such as Andre Kertesz and Henri Cartier-Bresson.

Pippa originally did a BA in Art and Design, and has illustrated for Cassells. More recently she has discovered that she loves painting portraits of pets.

“I really enjoy connecting with the spirit and character of the animal which I believe shows through the eyes and the markings of the fur. Although I like sketching from life, I also like to capture the essence of a pet from a simple photograph.”
